1. Participant Requirements
All participants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement. Riders must maintain current, valid motorcycle insurance throughout the event and must be able to provide proof of license, endorsement, and insurance upon request. Access Life America and Smiles for Life reserve the right to deactivate or disqualify any participant who cannot provide such proof.
2. Safety Requirements
All participants must ride safely and comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations in the jurisdiction where they are riding. Helmets and appropriate protective gear are strongly recommended. Participants are solely responsible for the safe operation of their motorcycle and for their own conduct on the road at all times.
3. Registration and Fees
The registration fee of $30.00 is non-refundable, except in the event that Access Life America cancels the event in its entirety, in which case registration fees will be refunded at the organizers' discretion. Your profile will be activated once payment is confirmed. All participants must complete registration before logging miles.
4. Mile Logging and Honesty
Participants agree to log miles honestly and accurately. Access Life America and Smiles for Life reserve the right to disqualify any participant found to have logged false miles or engaged in fraudulent activity, and to remove any associated fundraising totals from public leaderboards.
5. Dated Business Receipt (DBR) Definition
A Dated Business Receipt (DBR) is a machine-generated receipt that clearly displays the date, time, and location. Before leaving the business, carefully verify that all of this information is accurate. Do not assume the receipt is correct. A receipt with an incorrect date, time, or location cannot be accepted.
Your official mileage for the ride is determined by the starting and ending DBRs, so these receipts are critical.
For each required DBR submission, upload a single photo that clearly shows both:
- The DBR with the date, time, and location visible; and
- Your motorcycle's odometer reading at the time the receipt was obtained.
Both the receipt and the odometer must be clear, legible, and captured in the same photo.
6. Fundraising and Use of Funds
Participants set their own fundraising goals. Access Life America takes no administrative fee from donations; a standard payment processing fee (Stripe) is deducted automatically, as with any online donation. Registration fees cover event operating costs and are separate from donations.
7. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver
Motorcycle riding is an inherently dangerous activity. By participating in Smiles for Life, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with riding a motorcycle in connection with this event, including but not limited to: collisions with other vehicles or riders, road hazards, mechanical failure, adverse weather conditions, and the acts or omissions of other participants or third parties — which may result in serious injury, death, or property damage.
You agree that Access Life America (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization), Smiles for Life, and their respective officers, directors, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") are not responsible or liable for any injury, death, or property damage arising from or in any way connected to your participation in this event, whether occurring during a ride, in preparation for a ride, or otherwise in connection with the event, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your participation, including claims made by third parties as a result of your acts or omissions while riding.
This waiver applies regardless of the location from which you participate, given that this is a self-directed, ride-anywhere event.
8. Code of Conduct
Participants must treat all other riders, supporters, and staff with respect. Discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behavior will result in immediate disqualification from the event without refund.
9. Data Privacy
Your personal information will be kept confidential and used only for event administration, fundraising communications, and related organizational purposes by Access Life America. We will not sell your information to third parties.
10. Social Media Consent
Participants who opt in grant Smiles for Life and Access Life America permission to tag, mention, and publish content featuring their rider profile — including their biker name, fundraising progress, and any photos they upload — on Instagram and Facebook, for the purpose of promoting the event and fundraising campaign. This consent is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time by contacting the event organizers. If you provide your Instagram or Facebook handle, it may be used to tag you directly in posts. Your handles will not be shared with third parties outside of this fundraising campaign.
11. Governing Law and Venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your participation in this event shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Georgia.
You confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions listed above, including the assumption of risk and liability waiver in Section 7.
